NGO VACANCIES
An international nongovernmental organization currently implementing a program to improve the participation of key Nigerian stakeholders in the electoral process is looking for Nigerian citizens to fill positions within its offices in Abuja. The stakeholders include: political parties, election authorities, media and marginalised voter groups such as women, youth and persons with disabilities. Increasing and improving electoral participation is crucial to improving electoral participation is crucial to improving electoral credibility. The program specific objectives are to:
– Strengthen the capacity of political parties to more effectively and responsibly participate in the electoral process
– Strengthen capacity of domestic observes and party agents to monitor national and state elections
– Enhance the democratic role and use of new and traditional media in the political process
– Promote stakeholders dialogues on the electoral process
1. PROGRAM MANAGER (PN)
RESPONSIBILITIES:
– Report to the country director
– Take lead in the design and implementation of programs to improve the participation and capacity of women and youth in political parties
– Assist the country director in the project management and administration of specific project activities
– Liaise with political parties, elected officials and civil society organisations in respect to project activities and programs
– Participate in the design and implementation of training programs and coordination of workshops, trainings, dialogues and conferences
REQUIREMENTS
– Masters degree preferred in governance, development, social sciences or project management
– At least 8 years experience with an NGO or appropriate internationally recognised institution with experience in gender mainstreaming and work with underrepresented groups
– Strong understanding of Nigeria’s political system and political parties
– At least 3 years proven management experience at senior level
– Experience in leading and motivating staff including developing staff potential
– Experience in design, monitoring and evaluating democratic governance programs
– Experience in building and fostering relationships and capacity to communicate fluently with different stakeholders (civil society, media, government, staff and political parties)
– Strong networking and analytical skills, particularly in issues related to monitoring and evaluation
– Experience in staff management, capacity building, including training, mentoring and coaching
– Demonstrable written and oral communication skills with writing donor reports
– Computer proficiency in Microsoft
– Proven integrity, objectivity and professional competence, demonstrated sensitivity to cultural, PWD and gender issues
2. ASSISTANT PROGRAM OFFICER (APO) WOMEN’S PROGRAMS
RESPONSIBILITIES
– Report to the country director
– Assist in the design and implementation of the women’s program activities to improve the participation and capacity of women in political parties and political activism
– Assist the country director in the management of specific project activities
– Take lead in the coordination and facilitation of training workshops and conferences
– Liaise with political parties, elected officials and civil society organisations in respect of project activities related to the women’s program
REQUIREMENTS
– Masters degree preferred in governance, development, social sciences or project management
– At least 4 years experience with an NGO or appropriate internationally recognised institution with experience in gender mainstreaming and work with underrepresented groups

3. ACCOUNTANT
RESPONSIBILITIES
– Report to the country director
– Maintain and submit finance and accounting records
– Prepare budgets
– Supervise junior accountant
– Review of reconciliations, support documents and requests for payment
– Preparation of staff payroll
REQUIREMENTS
– Bachelors degree in accounting or related field
– At least 5 years experience with an NGO or appropriate internationally recognised institution with proven ability in financial management and accounting
– Experience in staff management, capacity building, including training, mentoring and coaching
– Demonstrable written and oral communication skills with writing donor reports
– Computer proficiency in Microsoft
4. DRIVER
RESPONSIBILITIES
– Driving
– Maintain and record information relating to the assigned vehicle in a vehicle log book
– Ensure that assigned vehicle is kept in a road worthy condition in all respects and to report any malfunction to administration
– Ensure that vehicle routine service is undertaken and replacement of tires, brakes and other essential parties is done on a timely basis
REQUIREMENTS
– At least 3 years driving and vehicle maintenance experience in an NGO or reputable company
– Proven integrity, flexibility and professional competence
